James W. Moore was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky. He received a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Louisville in 1980. Since then he's been stuck in the eighties - musically, at least (whatever happened to Depeche Mode ? One can only hope that they're Enjoying the Silence). Jim began his professional career working for McDonnell-Don't-Call-Me-Boeing-Douglas in St. Louis, working on cruise missile guidance and control, radar altimeters, and strategic planning systems. In 1983 he became a technical advisor to the US Air Force, Navy, and NATO at the Headquarters of the U.S. European Command in Stuttgart, Germany and in Mons, Belgium. While there, in the nascent days of the internet, he tangled electronically with the notoriously evil Kevin Mitnick. You can read all about that in John Markoff's book "CyberPunk". Or you can ask Jim. He'll tell you all about it, and about how the ruffled feathers with Kevin have since been smoothed. He was even interviewed on Kevin's radio show on KFI-AM 640 in Los Angeles (we're pretty sure that no one was listening). Jim also worked on secure communications for McDonnell Douglas and the USAF near Cambridge, England until 1994, when he grew tired of the defense industry. He founded Engineering Data Corp. in 1996, and dedicated his company to peaceful pursuits like making money. Jim now lives in Louisville, Kentucky with his wife Caroline. For fun he hangs out at his vacation house in Montreal, Canada, rides bicycles, flies airplanes, and he's an associate editor for the aviation magazine Pilot Getaways. He also writes occasional theatre reviews for the e-zine Curtainup.com.
